For 91 years, the Krewe of Carrollton has been a part of Carnival season in New Orleans. And in those decades, our traditions have included more than just the parade we’re so well known for. One of the long-standing traditions of the krewe is our Royal Walkabout, a gathering of Carrollton men and supporters in the streets of this fair city.
This year, we’re coming back home. Our roots on Oak Street are strong and will be celebrated on January 17th with a walkabout that will begin at 6pm and last through the evening.
We’ll start at the den for food and drinks, then a mini float with our King and Queen – led by a brass band – will make its way down Oak Street. We’ll stop for libations at Ninja, Maple Leaf and Mellow Mushroom, turn on to Carrollton for a stop at Madigan’s and end at Cooter Brown’s.
Your $30 per-person ticket ($15 for ages 12 and younger) will get you food and drinks at the den in addition to drinks at each stop and along the walk. A special Walkabout T-shirt is also part of the package!
Costumes are encouraged, as are some throws for the walk. So, come celebrate this year’s royalty – and bring your friends.
Transportation will be provided from Cooter Brown’s back to the den.
